Who is this for?

FSPs are available for children in early learning settings who:

  • Have a background of trauma and adversity in the early years
  • Consistently demonstrate behaviours of concern
  • Require immediate additional support to stabilise their attendance and inclusion in the kindergarten program

Packages provide up to 10 weeks of bridging support while longer-term inclusion arrangements are being determined — acting quickly to provide the right support at the right time, before challenges escalate.

Our approach

Our Flexible Support Package programs are trauma-informed and child and family centred. We work directly with your service, the child and their family to understand what's needed and design support that fits — delivered in-person, online, or a combination of both.

Kids First Australia brings together expertise in early childhood education, social work, trauma-informed practice and family support — giving your service a genuinely holistic perspective that goes beyond the classroom.

What a Flexible Support Package can include

We work with your service to design a package that fits — drawing on any combination of the following:

Coaching A collaborative, practice-based partnership that builds educators' confidence and skills to support a specific child or family. Through in-the-moment guidance and tailored strategies, coaching strengthens everyday practice and leads to sustainable, positive outcomes.

Consultations Targeted, expert guidance to help educators understand and respond to the needs of a specific child or family. Through focused discussion and tailored recommendations, consultations support informed decision-making and strengthen practice.

Learner Needs Analysis Identifies the strengths, needs and priorities of educators, children or teams to inform targeted support — ensuring strategies and resources are tailored, relevant and aligned to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Debriefing A structured space for individuals or teams to reflect on experiences, unpack challenges and make sense of practice. Debriefing supports emotional processing, shared understanding and continuous improvement in a safe and supportive way.

Training Bespoke, trauma-informed training sessions tailored to your service — covering topics including trauma and attachment, family engagement, sensory strategies and supporting vulnerable children.

Recommendations Following assessment and support, we provide clear, practical recommendations to guide next steps for the child, family and service.
