Putting Families First: New 12-Week Paid Parental Leave at Kids First
12/05/2025
This National Families Week, Kids First Australia is proud to announce a major enhancement to its paid parental leave policy, doubling the leave entitlements from six to 12 weeks. The upgraded policy also extends partner leave from three weeks to 12, placing Kids First among the leading organisations in the sector when it comes to supporting families.
“At Kids First, we don’t just say we put children and families first — we live it,” said Nicole Artico, CEO of Kids First Australia. “This change is about backing our people in one of life’s most important chapters - when welcoming a child into their family - and building a workplace where everyone feels supported to thrive.”
The revised policy applies to all staff, regardless of gender or parental role. This marks a significant step forward in gender equity and reflects Kids First’s continued dedication to being a values-driven, people-first employer.
“Supporting our people as caregivers is not just good policy — it’s the right thing to do,” said Lisa Hunter, Director of People, Culture and Performance. “By removing gendered distinctions and extending benefits equally, we’re investing in a more equitable future for our workforce and their families.”
The new policy aligns with the theme of National Families Week 2025: Lending a Hand to Thrive: Supporting Each Other - a fitting context for a bold and values-led change.
